Our Purpose: Story Board provides educational and mentoring programs for high school aged student filmmakers.

Upcoming Events and Programs
Lights, Camera, Action!!

This June, Story Board's On-Location Academy (OLA) will offer a mini-film camp to students interested in film production. Students contemplating a college education in filmmaking, a career in the industry, or want to receive hands-on experience on a film set should apply for this unique opportunity.

What will I experience at the Mini-Film Camp?

This weekend camp gives students a hands-on opportunity to learn the rigors, thrill, requirements, and language of filmmaking.

Day 1 - Saturday, June 21st 12pm - 6pm

includes a brief orientation of various departments on a film set including: directing, camera operation, lighting, and continuity. Students will also develop a shot list using the script, Bomb, the official script selection from Story Board's 2008 Screenwriting Showcase. The shot list will be used during Day 2 of the camp. Students will end Day 1 working with a professional gaffer to pre-light the film set. Through this hands-on exercise, students will learn how lighting can increase the production quality of a film.

Day 2 - Sunday, June 22nd 9am - 5:30pm

is a full day of production. Students will rotate throughout several set departments to receive serious hands-on experience. Students will use portions of the script, Bomb, as the production material. However, the focus of Day 2 is for students to receive as much hands-on experience as possible. Professional filmmakers will be on the set to advise and assist, however, students will be calling the shots!

How do I participate in the Mini-Film Camp?

Students who are committed to attending and actively participating in the film camp are asked to:
    1) Download and complete the application filmcamp.pdf
    2) email completed application to
                -OR-
    3) Print out and mail your answers to us by May 30th, 2008.

See the application for more detailed instructions.

The application is due by Monday, June 2nd (5pm).

Where can I find answers to my other questions?

2007 OLA Production is a wrap
Story Board would like to thank the cast and crew of Good Morning for their hard work and dedication. For the past four days, January 4-7, thirteen high school aged filmmakers acted as Apprentices on the short film production "Good Morning".

Apprentices were assigned to shadow members of the crewmembers from various departments including: Grip / Electric, Camera, Director, Wardrobe, Props, and Production. Through this experience, Apprentices were exposed to new skills and techniques which they can bring to their own film work.
"It was great to be part of a film production with a professional crew. I learned how filmmaking is a about teamwork and helping each other out. I feel I made some good connections with the mentors."
